Canada is a huge country that is richly diverse in terms of what it has to offer to tourists. Many of its urban attractions are located near the border of the United States and so it is no surprise that a large number of tourists from the US and other areas choose to visit Canada. Many of these tourists tend to visit the western areas of the country though the eastern areas also have a lot to offer. Some of the best places to see in Canada include:

Quebec City

The Quebec Province or city is located near the St. Lawrence River. This city has a wonderful history and architecture that is reminiscent of the glorious European cities. The old town region in this city has a world heritage site and it also has considerable French influence with French also being the preferred language in this city. Some of the most beautiful places in Canada are located in the Quebec region. These places include Quartier Petit-Champlain, fortifications of Quebec and La Citadelle of Quebec. Some other interesting places include Quebec Old Port. Vieux Quebec also has a number of museums and walking down the cobblestone streets and eating at the excellent cafes and restaurants can be an experience in itself.  Tourists can catch the spectacular sighting of whales in the area where the Saguenay River meets the St Lawrence. Gatineau National Park is located in Quebec Province and if you happen to visit this area in autumn then it can be a lovely sight. The changing colors of the forest make this region one of the most beautiful places in Canada.


Montreal is also culturally rich and has the second largest French speaking population in the world. Some lovely places in Canada that a tourist should visit include the Montreal Museum of Fine Art, the Notre Dame Basilica and the Park Olympique that was built for the 1976 Olympics. Tourists can also enjoy cruises at the Old Port of Montreal.  And if you are in time for spring then you can catch the amazing Montreal Cirque du Soleil show. If you are interested in festivals then you can visit Montreal during the Montreal International Jazz festival.  You can also explore plant and animal species at the Botanical Garden in this city.


Ontario has a lot of scenery to offer along the Lake Ontario shoreline. While exploring the Ontario shoreline the town "Niagara on the Lake" is a delightful place to explore and stay in. This town was voted as the prettiest town in Canada in 1996. This town can easily be one of the most romantic places in Canada because of its restful atmosphere. This town also has a lot to offer to the outdoor enthusiast.


Some other good places to see in Canada include the trendy spots and entertainment avenues in Toronto. Toronto is an exceptionally modern city and has some fabulous restaurants to offer to tourists.

Niagara Falls

Easily the most glorious site in Canada the Falls attract thousands of visitors every year.


Ottawa has some interesting attractions including the Winterlude which is the winter festival. It also has numerous museums that ought to be explored. Some places that should be visited and explored include the Parliament of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Civilization among others.


Canada’s finest national park (Banff National Park) is located at an hour’s drive from Calgary in Alberta. This national park has beautiful sights to offer with towering mountains and glacial blue lakes. Along with the Banff National park, Lake Louise should also be visited.

Prince Edward Island

The Prince Edward Island National park located in Prince Edward Island, Canada has ocean beaches and stunning views to offer and this area is highly recommended for every tourist.

New Brunswick

Some popular destinations in New Brunswick include travelling through the longest covered bridge in the world located at Hartland. Bird watching and exploration of tidal rivers, shifting sand dunes and salt marshes can be undertaken at the Kouchibouguac National Park. You can enjoy the paintings of Salvador Dali along with other Canadian and British paintings at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery located in Fredericton.

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia has one of the most picturesque settings at the quaint Peggy’s Cove. This is one of the most photographed places and is a beautiful fishing village. Alexander Graham Bell, the man who invented the telephone has his home in this region and you can visit it and pay tribute to his genius.


Some lovely destinations in Canada can be found in Yukon. As a tourist you can climb the Mouth Logan which is the highest peak in Canada standing tall at a height of 5959 meters. This can be exciting for serious mountaineers and an alternative option to mountaineering can be flightseeing. You can also hike along the Chilkoot Trail and pan for gold.
