David Robert Joseph Beckham

This good looking footballer was the captain of the English football team from 1998 to 2009. When he was younger he always dreamed of playing at the magnificent Old Trafford and his dreams did turn into reality one day! Beckham scored in three different FIFA World Cups and also played midfield for clubs like England, Madrid, Manchester, Spain and Milan. Some of the nicknames associated with Beckham are - Golden Balls, DB7, Becks and Dave.

Steven George Gerrard

This captain of the English National Team as well as the Premier League Club Liverpool is a great footballer who made his professional debut in 1998. Gerrard has spent most of his career in a centre midfield role, though he has also been used as a holding midfielder, second striker and a right winger.

Alessandro Del Piero

A handsome footballer who features in the FIFA 100, which is a list of the 125 greatest living footballers selected by the legend himself, Pele. Alessandro is an Italian player who plays for Sidney FC in the A-league. Apart from his game, this footballer has also received awards for gentlemanly conduct. It is said that Alessandro was the best paid football player taking into consideration the revenue generated from salaries, bonuses and advertisements.

Wayne Rooney

It was in the year 2002 that this young footballer caught the attention of everyone with his goal against Arsenal. 2 years later Manchester United signed him for a large amount. Diego Armando Maradona

Knicknamed “Hand of God” after he played with the Argentinian national team that won the 1986 World Cup, Maradona was a midfielder known for his ability to create chances to score for himself and also for others. Maradona was named the top player of the 20th century through an internet poll conducted by the Federation Internationale de Football Association.

Sir Robert Charlton

This famous person who is also known as “Bobby” is a former English football player. Sir Carlton was an important member of the England team who won the World Cup in the year 1966. Apart from this he also won the Ballon d'Or for European Footballer of the Year in the same year. Sir Robert Carlton spent most of his club football life at Manchester United where he was known for his passing abilities and attacking instincts along with his ferocious long-range shot.

Zinedine Zidane

Destiny has a great role to play in life and Zidane is a great example! Discovered at 14 and signed as a schoolboy for Cannes FC, this football player has never looked back ever since. Zidane has represented his country in the FIFA World Cup Final and scored two goals in France's 3-0 victory over Brazil. It was after this match that he was hailed as a national hero. After a good career, Zidane chose to retire after the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2006.

Cristiano Ronaldo

This young footballer from Portugal is the captain of the Portuguese national team. He became the most expensive footballer in history when he decided to move to Real Madrid from Manchester United. This transfer was worth £80 million! In 2007 Ronaldo became the first player to win all four main PFA and FWA awards. Apart from this he has many other awards like the Ballon d'Or, European Golden Shoe, World Soccer Player of the Year and others to his credit.

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite a.k.a Kaka

Most footballers need no introduction and Kaka is certainly one of them! Kaka is a midfielder who plays for Brazil and the Serie A club A.C. Milan. As a youngster Kaka suffered a faulty jump off a diving-board which resulted in a vertebra fracture, but he recovered and soon carved a place for himself in the world of Football. Kaka also known as Rikki by his team-mates is a firm believer in Jesus and he cites that the reason he is playing today is only because of Him!


This page would certainly be incomplete without mentioning Pele the soccer legend who rose to fame with his performance in the 1958 World Cup. This great footballer played for Brazil for two decades in which time he won three World Cups along the way. He joined the New York Cosmos later in his career. In 1999 Pele was named the FIFA co-player of the Century. Today he is a global ambassador for football as well as other humanitarian causes.

Robert Baggio

Also known as "IL Divin' Codino" which means the Divine Ponytail for the hairstyle he sports, his talent and his Buddhist background, Baggio is an international footballer who knows his game! Winning many titles like the Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia and an UEFA Cup at Club level, Baggio has never looked back. Though retired today Baggio was at one time an attacking midfielder and also the former President of the Technical Sector of the FIGC.
