Meatballs are a favorite in all households, however sometimes people find it difficult to sauté the meatballs. Whether it is one of the easy meatball recipes or a variation such as spaghetti and meatballs, it takes very little time to make these recipes. With a little bit of care you can learn how to make quick and easy meatballs from scratch and enjoy these lovely recipes on a lazy Sunday afternoon with your extended family. Following are some easy meatball recipes that you can make at home:

Homemade Meatball Recipe

Ingredients
  • Ground beef or ground turkey (1 lb)
  • Dry Breadcrumbs or Seasoned crumbs (1/2 to 2/3 cup)
  • Milk (1/4 cup)
  • Salt (1/4 to 3/4 teaspoon)
  • Worcestershire Sauce (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Chopped onion (1 small onion)
  • 1 Egg
Equipment
  • Oven
  • Skillet
  • 9 x 13 Pan
Process
  • Combine the ingredients and shape the mixture into meatballs of 1 to 1 ½ inches each.
  • In an oven place a pan after lining it with a foil.
  • Bake the meatballs at a temperature of around 375 to 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. While baking, check from time to time to ensure that the meatballs are cooked properly. Turn the meatballs around so that it helps them maintain the shape.
  • In case you plan to fry the meatballs, take a skillet. On medium heat fry the meatballs till they turn brown.
Easy Taco Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients
  • Hamburger (2 lbs)
  • Chopped Onion (1/2 onion)
  • Eggs (2 slightly beaten eggs)
  • Taco Mix (1 pkg.)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Garlic to taste

  • Mix all the ingredients together and form this mixture into meatballs.
  • In an oven place a cookie sheet and place the meatballs for baking at 400 degrees for around 15 minutes.
Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Ingredients
  • Ground beef (2 lb)
  • Apricot jam (2 lg. jars)
  • Plain Bread crumbs
  • Kraft barbeque sauce (2 lg. jars)
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper (as per taste)

Process
  • On a low flame put together the apricot jam and barbecue sauce in a saucepan. Mix this well.
  • In a large bowl mix together the ground beef, eggs, pepper, bread crumbs and salt. Roll this mixture into small balls.
  • In an oven place a cookie sheet and bake the balls at 375 degrees for around 20 minutes. Once the balls are cooked, put them into the sauce. Let them cook on low heat in the sauce for around 30 minutes and then serve.
Crockpot Meatballs

Ingredients
  • Ground beef (1 lb)
  • Italian sausage (1/2 lb)
  • 2 eggs
  • Milk (1/4 cup)
  • Dry breadcrumbs (1/2 cup)
  • Grated parmesan cheese (2 tablespoon)
  • Garlic powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Salt and pepper

Process
  • Take a bowl and in this mix together the eggs and milk. Add the beef and the Italian sausage to it. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix this well.
  • Shape the mixture into balls (1 inch) and place these on a cookie sheet that is greased. Bake these balls at around 350°F for around 15 minutes and then add these to the Crockpot.
For the sauce
  • Tomato sauce (15 oz can)
  • Tomato paste (6 oz can)
  • 1 Chopped onion (small)
  • Green pepper (1/2 Cup)
  • Beef broth (1/2 Cup)
  • Water (1/3 cup)
  • 2 Garlic cloves (minced)
  • Oregano (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Sugar (1 teaspoon)
  • Pepper (1/2 teaspoon)
Process
  • In a bowl mix all the ingredients together and then pour this mixture on the meatballs in the Crockpot.
  • Cover it and let it cook on a low flame for 4 to 5 hours.
Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients
  • Fresh white bread (2 slices)
  • Milk (1/4 cup)
  • Clarified butter, divided (3 tablespoons)
  • Chopped onion (1/2 cup)
  • Kosher salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Ground chuck (3/4 pound)
  • Ground pork (3/4 pound)
  • Egg yolks (2 large)
  • Black pepper (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Ground allspice (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Freshly grated nutmeg (1/4 teaspoon)
  • All purpose flour (1/4 cup)
  • Beef broth (3 cups)
  • Heavy cream (1/4 cup)

  • 12 inch Saute pan (Straight sided)
Process
  • Preheat the oven to a temperature of around 200 degrees F.
  • In a mixing bowl tear the bread into small pieces and add milk. Set this aside.
  • In the sauté pan, melt around 1 tablespoon of the butter on medium heat. To this add onion along with a pinch of the salt and stir till the onions become soft. Now remove this from the heat and set it aside.
  • In the bowl of a mixer put together the ground chuck, egg yolks, pork and the milk and bread mixture. Add the kosher salt, allspice, nutmeg, black pepper and onions. Beat this on medium speed for a period of 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Shape the mixture into balls. In a sauté pan put the remaining butter on medium heat and add the meatballs. Sauté the meatballs till they turn golden brown. Remove these meatballs and then place them in a dish and put them in the warmed oven.
  • For the gravy, on low heat in a pan add the flour and whisk it until it turns light brown. Now add the beef stock and whisk this till the sauce thickens. Add cream and cook till the gravy reaches the required or desired consistency. Remove the meatballs from the oven and cover them with the prepared gravy.
Spaghetti with meatballs

Ingredients
  • Spaghetti (1 pound)
  • Marinara sauce
  • Slice of bread (2.5 cm)
  • Milk or broth
  • 1 ½ Pounds ground meat (beef or pork)
  • 2 eggs (well beaten)
  • Unsalted butter (3 tablespoons)
  • Minced onion (1/4 cup)
  • Chopped garlic (1 clove)
  • Minced parsley (3 tablespoons)
  • Salt (1 ¼ teaspoons)
  • Freshly grated parmigiano (1/4 cup)
  • Dried oregano (1/4 teaspoon)
  • 1 Hot pepper (seeded and shredded)
  • Grated lemon zest (1 teaspoon)
  • Pepper

Process
  • Put the bread in the broth or milk and cover it for around 5 minutes. Then squeeze the extra liquid so that the bread remains moist. Take a tablespoon of butter in a pan and sauté the onion in it till it turns golden.
  • In a mixing bowl put together the bread after crumbling it and add the rest of the ingredients except for the butter. Mix the ingredients well and shape it into balls of around 1 to 1 ½ inches.
  • Now preheat the oven to a temperature of around 350 F.
  • In an ovenproof pot melt the rest of the butter and add the meatballs so that they are browned gently on all the sides. Take the marinara sauce in a pan and bring it to a simmer and once that is done cover the meatballs with the marinara sauce. Now cover the pot and let it bake for a period of around half hour.
  • While the meatballs are cooking boil and cook the spaghetti and once that is done drain it and season it with the sauce. Add grated cheese and serve.
Porcupine meatballs

Ingredients
  • Ground beef (1 lb)
  • Uncooked rice (1/2 cup)
  • ¼ Chopped onion 
  • White bread (1/2 slice)
  • Tomato soup (1 can)
  • Salt and seasoning salt (as per taste)
Equipment

Fry pan (electric or heavy fry pan)

Process
  • Take the slice of bread and add around ½ cup water. Add the meat, onion, rice and seasoning. Form this mixture into small meatballs and place these into a fry pan.
  • Put the tomato soup in the pan and add 1 can of water and mix this well together.
  • Now place the cover on the pan and let this cook on medium heat. The tomato juice should lightly boil and the rice should pop out like a porcupine.
  • While cooking this dish you may alternately place the meatballs and gravy in a heavy pan and put this in an oven at 350 degrees so that the rice pops out.
